Salem
Perfectly situated on the north shore of Massachusetts, Salem has had an important role in the history of the state as it was one of the most popular seaports for Puritan Americans. Salem was also the site of the notorious “Salem Witch Trials,” a collection of prosecutions of alleged witchcraft being conducted in the late 1600’s.
Due to its history Salem has built a solid foundation of tourism. Halloween happenings based on the Witchcraft history and the Friendship replica, a remake of a tall fishing ship from the late 1700’s, has made it a popular destination by many. Salem is recognized for having a vibrant downtown with over 60 restaurants, shops and cafes and winning the “Best Shopping District” award of 2012.
